"Play and Stay" Golden Years

Rhonda Pipkin

Wine, gambling, beaches, 342 days of sunshine, golf, and tour packages. Sounds like a trip for the young-uns' doesn't it? This trip is meant for you! Yes, you and your honey. Your significant other, that sweetheart or sweet tart, the one who butters your bread or melts your butter! Oh? You don't have a traveling companion? Not to worry, California is the companion of your dreams. Rough and romantic or soft and sexy, the golden state lures the senior its way. Rich in history and being in a state of extremes even its name meaning "Eureka!"  "I have found it!"  gives away the mystery that it holds.

A favorite spot for traveling seniors, warm to the old bones in the upcoming winter months, and a favorite time to weather the chill, California is the place to be. In a stunning new multi-million dollar recreation and world class resort Golden Village Palms RV Resort will pull you, the fun loving senior, through the cold winter months. Located close to Palm Springs, San Diego, and Disneyland, Golden Village Palms is a 1019 full service site resort. There is pull-through available. Private meeting rooms and professional kitchen help with large club parties. Ballrooms, billiards, shuffleboard pavilion, and fitness center are just a few of the amenities available to RV residents. Cable TV is included at each site.

An events coordinator is on the premises to help with catering large functions. VIP suites are available to booking wagon masters. Shopping and dining are all in walking distance of the resort. As always reservations are a must. Please call ahead especially when booking large groups or when planning to stay for longer than two weeks.

With all this beauty surrounding you, don't forget to take care of yourself. Remember most of California is desert country. Loss of water in the desert heat is the number one reason for dehydration in seniors. In your excitement of being on a lush golf course and just making hole-in-one, you won't remember to drink your water, so here's the matronly reminder, water, water, water. Ok, I know what you're thinking—tinkle, tinkle, and tinkle. You'll be surprised how your body will absorb the water.  Basking in those 342 days of sunshine, my how you'll bake!

When you're tired of the golden sunshine, go indoors for a little one on one? Shuffleboard, that is. Or relax in the beautiful Mediterranean style furnishings which abound everywhere. Sit pool side and reminisce about how much you don't miss the kids. Take a cruise on the Bahia and watch a fiery golden sunset blaze the skies, then dance until your knees tell you its time to quit. Set no boundaries and let your body gently whisper when its time to turn in for the night. Some of you will party so hard your feet will be screaming "TAKE ME HOME!"

Just because you've entered the senior years doesn't mean you have to live like "On Golden Pond," but you do need to party responsibly, you've got to get back to the RV somehow! And I'm not taking you!

Now that I've got you convinced that the Gold Rush is at Golden Village Palms, will you get there as fast as you can? Its shuffleboard competition time and getting colder as the geese fly south. What's taking so long to get to California? I can already hear a multitude of easterners and northerners shouting "Eureka! We've found it!" So why aren't you there enjoying the desert and the lush impressive array of Zahati palm trees that line the drive. Getting your personal greeting from the round-the-clock security guards, and parking in your own personal home space decorated with beautiful trees, plants, and shrubs which enhance the already golden atmosphere. Consider it your own paradise. A luxuriant garden filled with charm. You may not be as young as Adam and Eve, but honey, just think of all the wisdom you hold as Momma and Papa Earth.  Play and Stay in California at Golden Village Palms.

Happy Holidays and Happy Traveling!
