The Born Free 32'
President

Class C Motorhome

Lazelle Jones

They’ve specialized in building Class C motorhomes  for the last third of a century, so it comes as no surprise that Dodgen Industries of Humboldt, IA would be among the first to design and create this next generation luxury Class C motorhome, the 32’ President. This all new Class C has uses as its foundation the Chevy C5500 truck chassis a chassis that yields an amazing 19,500 lb. GVWR and a cargo carrying capacity of up to 3,500 lbs.  On top of that when equipped with a Class III receiver hitch it can tow 6,500 pounds of trailer, car or what ever.

With orders running at about 60% gasoline (8.1 Vortec V8) and 40% Duramax Diesel, all 32’ Born Free Presidents come equipped with a 6-speed Allison transmission.  With a 60 gallon fuel tank, the options for picking and choosing when and where you want to refuel are now more than ever before.  Among the other pluses associated with the C5500 chassis is its 53-degree front wheel cut that facilitates ease of turning and its sloped hood that improves the visibility out in front of the coach by 17%.

The interior of the 32’ President will be instantly recognized as being pure Born Free i.  The attention to detail; the fit and finish that laces the interior and the exterior and the elegance and luxury that greet you upon entry underscore the Dodgen Industries legacy of excellence.   Construction includes another design feature that goes hand in hand with every Born Free motorhome built and that’s the integrated system of steel roll bars that flow from the cab aft to the rear of the coach.

This next generation Born Free comes equipped with 50 amp electrical service and a power reel that feeds and retrieves the shore power cable when it’s put into service and taken out of service.  The gasoline powered 5.5 kW auxiliary generator is more than sufficient to power the twin 13.5M BTU roof air conditioners (with heat pumps) and all other 110-volt electrical appliance and equipment onboard.  For those who want even more power an optional 6.5 kW genset is available.   The fresh, gray and waste holding tanks have capacities to support days of stand-alone RV camping and the 30M BTU forced air furnace will take the chill off the coldest morning.

The exterior is dressed with high gloss fiberglass that carries a limited lifetime warranty against corrosion or hail perforation.  Thermal pane windows are found throughout and to cushion the coach, the cargo and those traveling inside against road trauma, the 32’ President comes equipped with an on-board “Link Air” suspension system.

Two floor plans are available.  One is a rear queen island bed and the other a rear stateroom with twin beds.  Copious amounts of storage have been built into and beneath both bed systems. To further compound the excellence in comfort and livability, the 32’ President comes equipped with the Select Comfort sleep system, a system that permits you to choose the level of firmness desired.  Storage compartments accessed from the outside augment the generous amount of storage capacity found inside.   Several configurations of furniture in the living area are available.  The full service state-of-the-art galley comes equipped with a 10-cubic foot refrigerator freezer, an LP cook-top, a microwave convection oven, a single or double sink and a pantry.   The 32’ President features a center aisle bath with the shower located on one side and the water closet with marine style toilet and lavvy directly opposite the shower.

For those Class C motorhome enthusiasts wanting more cargo and weigh carrying capacity, more interior space and mega amounts of livability (this unit is 102” wide), but who don’t want to go into the much larger and unfamiliar Class A motorhome, the 32’ President is a welcome addition.  And for those currently in a large Class A coach who want to downsize without sacrificing the luxury and livability they are accustomed to, the 32’ President also makes sense.  With six sales locations across the United States, it’s easier than ever before to experience for yourself the all new Born Free 32’ President Class C Motorhome.  Their web site is noted above.  Their telephone number is 800-247-1835.  Happy Traveling!
