Wolf Mountain Vineyards

Blackstock  Vineyards

Frogtown Cellars

Three Sisters Vineyards

Specialist in “the best” wine environments have done studies comparing the soil, weather - climate, and other important environmental factors of this area of North Georgia, and found it very similar to those of the famed Italian wine producing regions.

Wolf Mountain Vineyards

This place really caught my eye and taste buds.  Located just 5 miles north of the historic town square, Wolf Mountain Vineyards and Winery represents a 25-acre family-owned wine growing estate. Overlooking the pastoral hillside vineyards of Wolf Mountain, the Winery offers a beautiful, unique venue for your business and social entertaining.  One meal at this “fine dining and winemaking facility” will long be remembered.  . Wolf Mountain is truly a "Gem" in the Heart of North Georgia's Wine Country.”

Wolf Mountain is known for specializing in weddings in one of Georgia’s most beautiful locations.  It is no wonder they are booked each year with weddings and receptions in their facilities that accommodate as many as many as 200 people.  Directions

March through mid-December the restaurant is open for the elaborate vineyard luncheon buffet with seatings at 12:30 and 2:30pm. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 706-867-9862. The brunch menus change monthly, but the current menu can be checked online .  The price is $30 per person, plus tax and gratuity. Wine is not included in the brunch price, but can be purchased by the glass or by the bottle. The beauty of the dining hall is only out done by the view beyond the windows which surround the “great room.”  You will not be disappointed in your time invested in a trip to Wolf Mountain.

Wolf Mountain Vineyard is constantly hosting concerts, special events, and providing the public with “evenings to remember.”  Each month an Event Calendar is provided online.

Frogtown Cellars

Frogtown Cellars   is truly a world class winery.  The beauty of the timber frame – Georgia Cypress wood mixed with Tennessee flagstone and mahogany wood will prepare you for the introduction to a place of fine dining, and excellent award-winning wines.  Tasting the wines while standing at the ‘20s Victorian bar is an experience to long remember.  Their list of medals and awards for premium wines is very impressive in the wine competition world.

At  Frogtown Cellars one can look at the 35 acre lake, dine on gourmet foods, taste world class wines, or have a wedding – or do all of the above!  The mountains of North Georgia invite you to a Panini Bar Saturday from 12:30 to 4pm. Come enjoy a hot grilled Panini with a glass of wine, a Sunday Wine taster’s Brunch Hours of on Sunday from 12:30 to 2:30p.m. where you enjoy 3 courses with wine pairings and handmade desserts (reservation required), or check out their Events Calendar for other activities each month. Directions

 Three Sisters Vineyards

Named the “Best Winery in the South” by Turner

South,  Three Sisters Vineyards offers some mighty fine wines.  This 184 acre property has been operated as a family farm 1995, and with vines planted in 1998 they had their first production in 2000.  Directions   It is not only worth the trip out to taste the fine wines, but to visit with the owners is a real treat – these are great Southern folks –

Blackstock Vineyards

is host to: Business Retreats and Team Building, Weddings / Receptions, Private Wine Dinners, Reunions, Private Parties and wonderful wine tasting.  With over 5,000 sq ft of event space dedicated to weddings, receptions, parties, luncheons, dinners, and corporate affairs this winery has a lot to offer.

The settings are not only unique – they are a wine and mountain lover’s paradise. Boasting a rustic mountain lodge, BlackStock Winery offers a comfortable and beautiful place for entertaining year-round.  Enjoy a lovely 3-sided stone fireplace, cozy furniture and stunning large-format windows that bring the beauty of the day right into the room, no matter the weather.  The perfect winter remedy for cabin fever!

Our panoramic vineyards surround the elevated 2,000 square foot deck - the perfect choice for hot weather. A constant breeze, roof-covered deck, ceiling fans and rocking chairs makes this the quintessential North Georgia Mountain escape.  Feel the stress and the heat melt away.”  Directions

My suggestion is to spend a couple of days on the “North Georgia Wine Trail in Dahlonega Region” and enjoy beautiful scenery, fine wine, and outstanding food, while meeting some of America’s finest people – all within a few miles of a wonderful town – Dahlonega, Georgia.  Happy Traveling  (If you missed April’s articles about the region, go to Archives to read more.)
