Massage and Acupuncture
in Belize at
Rebecca's Clinic

John C. Jones
Travel/Food Writer

No, it is not the Ritz.  Not even as fancy as the storage buildings at the Ritz.  What it is – is a developing country Chinese “clinic” that gives excellent massage.   Both   Mike Pan and  Dr. Rebecca Zheng  have many years in the area of Chinese medicine and massage.  Having left their homeland in China several years ago they came to Belize to open their business.  They are conveniently located about one block away from the Radisson Fort George Hotel.  For $50 (at the time of this article) you can enjoy one and a half hour of delightful  therapeutic massage.

                                                   The location is:

                                                   Rebecca’s Clinic

                                                   3# Cork Street, Belize City

                                                   Ph. 501 223-6371

In this photo is a client receiving acupuncture for his back.  This young man came in the clinic bent over and moving slowly.  I watched as they stuck him “in all the right places” with acupuncture needles and then used the “candle – vacuumed” bottles to suck his skin up into the glass.  About an hour later he walked out straight and seemingly free from pain!

The massage is more traditional, without bottles and without needles!  They both do have “hands of magic” and are such wonderful people that the trip there is a guaranteed good experience.  From time to time I meet people I feel are “so special” I do an article about them just for that reason.

I have experienced some of the better spas and “magic hands” that the world offers.  I have had massages on beaches, grand resorts, and even by the masseuse at Sawgrass Golf Resort that Tiger Woods uses.  These people are  equal to any, even if the environment is lacking.  They speak limited English, but with each year’s return trip Rebecca’s English is much improved.  This was my 27th trip into the beautiful country of Belize.  If you find yourself in that beautiful country, I recommend the Radisson in Belize City, and a massage at Rebecca’s  Clinic.  Happy Traveling
