A twenty five-minute flight from South Florida via Continental Connection, or by private airplane, or via a short ride aboard a high-speed water craft (the Bimini Breeze) that navigates the waters between this Bahamian Island and the Port of Miami and you are there. This quaint island (North Bimini) and Bimini Bay Resort and Marina offer a true international getaway that is close in proximity and conveniently accessible from Coastal Florida. With accommodations that include condominiums, one-bedroom treehouses and elegant waterfront and Private Island estate homes, Bimini Bay Resort and Marina also features a fine dining restaurant, a glorious infinity pool, a full-service marina and a mega yacht marina debuting this summer, white sand beaches, recreational areas for youngsters and massage therapies that include Swedish and Thai massage services.
Allocating a substantial portion of mangrove forest to a preserve, Bimini Bay Resort and Marina has taken the island’s well being into consideration for future generations. Acting as a nursery for marine life and waterfowl, the mangroves yield many opportunities where the ecotourist can enjoy birding, fishing and kayaking.

Discovered circa the 1500’s by Ponce de Leon during his quest to find the Fountain of Youth, the beauty of the island – with its crystal clear waters – attracts yachting and water-sport enthusiasts who come in search of diversions that the entire family will enjoy. Located at the point where the Gulf Stream meets the Great Bahama Bank, the sports fishing enthusiast considers this to be the bonefish and big-game fishing capital of the world.
Painted in tropical hues (greens, blue, peach, yellow, pink and turquoise) the Bahamian inspired architecture of the resort‘s accommodations are accented with white windows, railing and doors. All units offer water views of the Atlantic Ocean and/or Bimini Bay. Elegantly appointed, some of the accommodations offer full-service kitchens; however, Casa Lyon (a stand-alone, Mediterranean-designed restaurant that specializes in Caribbean fusion cuisine) does nothing short of teasing and pleasing the pallet with culinary delights that will keep you coming back to experience more and more of its other unique offerings. With its exclusive fare prepared by Executive Chef Kermit Mackey, Casa Lyon will soon offer room service, in-home catering, private dinners and tastings.
Among its litany of visual and sensual pleasures is the Infinity pool where the illusion of crystal blue water flowing onto the horizon is matched by magnificent views of the ocean itself. The contemporary design of the Infinity pool and accoutrements that appoint it are further augmented by its adjacent pool side grille that features a menu of items that includes conch delicacies, hamburgers, chicken fingers, rum punch and frozen cocktails. The Thai and Swedish massage services offered at Bimini Bay Resort and Marina are available poolside or they can be enjoyed under a cabana or in the privacy of the guest’s own luxury accommodations.
A variety of accommodations are available that include one bedroom studios; one bedroom condominiums with kitchen, one bedroom treehouses; two and three bedroom condominiums and three and four bedroom luxury oceanfront homes. Bimini Bay also offers The Bimini Bay Island Estate collection with thirty private island residences that can be accessed from their individual docks or the short bridge connecting the island with the resort. The addition of tennis courts and a Fisherman’s Village with small boutiques, a coffee shop and ice cream parlor are nearing fruition. And for the duffer, a golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. (a links-style course at the northern end of the island) will soon break ground and eventually offer guests and owners ocean views from every hole. Scheduled to break ground in 2007 are Conrad Bimini Bay, Casino and Spa. Happy Traveling!
