A most informative site about distances from course to course, weather in Alabama, course information, etc, can be found at: http://www.rtjgolf.com/courses/ A quote from the site, “The Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail is the largest golf course construction project ever attempted. The New York Times calls it "...some of the best public golf on Earth." Where else can one play among oversized - towering - enthralling pines, sensational magnolias, splendid dogwoods, and enchanting towering oaks in a picture-perfect environment? Capitol Hill course is pictured above.
Alabama has certainly gained an incredible position in the golfing world with the amazing achievement of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. These courses have the “right stuff” for the seasoned, talented golfer, as well as the golfer who enjoys being out among mesmerizing scenery, and nature. These are exhilarating and challenging courses with dynamic outdoors beauty found only in the Southern parts of America. Score cards of these courses may be seen at http://www.rtjgolf.com/courses/capitol%5Fhill/ .
The Course, located at Auburn / Opelika is commanding in every sense of the word
. The Links Course, which is one of the most talked about courses in the South, is a “never to be forgotten event.” The par-four 18th is considered the strongest finishing hole on the entire Trail. The drive must carry a corner of the Lake, while the approach is played to a challenging green shored up by boulders. On this course, 12 holes hugging the shore, gives a pleasant lake view you’ll fall in love with as you experience the wonder of Alabama golfing on The Trail. http://www.rtjgolf.com/courses/grand%5Fnational/second.htm
The distinguished Grand National's Lake Course is every bit as scenic as The Links. There is a quartet of par threes on the Lake Course that are as good as any you will find in the nation. The memorable and exquisite 230-yard, island green 15th may be the single prettiest hole on the Trail.
With nine finely crafted, elegantly appointed courses, Alabama’s Trail will spoil you for anything else. This is great golfing for those who demand excellence.

One of my recommendations is a stay at the Grand Hotel Point Clear Resort and Spa by Marriott. http://www.marriottgrand.com/golf.cfm “Located on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, just 49 miles from Pensacola and 23 miles from Mobile, the Grand Hotel Marriott Resort, Golf Club & Spa is the undisputed Queen of Southern Resorts.” From Mobile Airport: Go east to I-65 on Airport Boulevard. Follow I-65 South to I-10 East. Follow I-10 East through tunnel and across Bay Bridge, to Spanish Fort/Daphne/Fairhope Exit #35 (Highway 98). Go south on Highway 98 (four-lane) approximately seven miles to “Welcome To Fairhope” sign on right (Alternate/Scenic Hwy. 98). Proceed ahead to downtown Fairhope. Turn right at the third traffic light onto Fairhope Avenue. Before you get to the Fairhope Municipal Pier, turn left onto Mobile St. (Also Scenic 98). The resort is approximately three miles on the right. ENJOY SOME OF ALABAMA'S FINE DINING HERE ... REMEMBER, IT IS THE "YEAR OF FOOD." Happy traveling and happy dining.
Happy Traveling.
