Chalet Suzanne
Lake Wales, Florida

John C. Jones
Travel/Food Writer

Located in Lake Wales, Florida, this restaurant and 26 room inn (B & B) has been the host to those seeking the spell of enchanted places of romance elegantly accompanied with charm and classic surroundings and  fine dining.

The airport of Lake Wales is just ten convenient minutes away, not to mention their own fly-in runway that is 2500 feet in length.  It is a dynamic and compelling sight  to see the small craft as they fly in and position their planes the length of the runway and land beside Lake Suzanne.

This charming Swiss styled village is located on an 70 acre estate and has the distinguished and illustrious honor of being listed for the past 30 years+ as one of Florida’s Top Twenty Restaurants (Florida Trend Magazine) and the 30 room inn has the commanding position of being listed as one of the Top Ten Inns in America (Uncle Ben’s Top Ten Inns in America).   Located on the picturesque Lake Suzanne, this family owned inn and restaurant built in 1931 has only  become more precious with time.  Excellence is truly a tradition here and the Chalet Suzanne is designed for those who appreciate indulging  in “out of the ordinary food.”    Every place the eye lands individually crafted rooms and buildings take you back to when quality is always in perfect taste.  It is not the Ritz, or the Hilton.  It is a step-back in history!  It is B & B with beautiful timely accoutrements.  Each room is filled with the family’s art and artifacts collected during the many years of world travel.  The Inn is elegantly appointed with charm and taste, and old-fashioned appeal.  The day spa is full service, complete with 30, 60, and 90 minute treatments from citrus scrubs to reflexology.  To the left is Ann, in charge of public relations.

The Hinshaw family has been making guests welcome for over 70 years, whether you come by car or plane... for a single meal or several... for one day or more.  This enchanting Inn of 26 rooms, nestled on a 100 acre estate, is a gracious oasis amidst the excitement ofcCentral Florida attractions, catering to discriminating guests of all ages.

Each of the 26 guest rooms at   Chalet Suzanne  greets you with cordial warmth, delightfully different room, with the comforts of private entrance, private bath, air conditioning, telephone, and television.  The sparkling pool, lake, and airstrip are only a few steps from your courtyard or patio.

The essence of the Chalet's reputation is its cuisine, food that Gourmet Magazine calls ‘glorious’ ... served in a unique setting of five quaint rooms on many levels, overlooking the lake.  Every corner glows with antiques, stained glass, and old lamps from far away places.

Before you leave, seek out these whimsical spots.... The Swiss Room, Wine Dungeon, Gift Boutique, Autograph Garden, Courtyard Spa, Ceramic Salon, Airstrip, Vineyard and last but not least, the Soup Cannery, where those delicious soups, which have even been to the moon, are processed for gift giving all over the globe.

Chalet Suzanne is a subtle balm.... a lovely memory that stays hidden in your heart.  We want you to feel it too.”  The Hinshaw Family http://www.townofdundee.com/ChaletSuzannne.htm

A never-to-be-forgotten breakfast is a part of the room package.  Each meal at Chalet Suzanne is a seductive dining experience!   No wonder all the accolades and awards for excellence!  Even their wine list has won awards and national attention!

Many of the Florida tourist sights are just a convenient drive from their location.  This would include Cypress Gardens, golf, Fantasy of Flight Museum, Bok Tower and Gardens, and many others.  This is the heart of Central Florida tourist district.

They have their own gourmet-soup cannery that produced the Moon Soup that has the unique honor of being chosen to accompany the Apollo astronauts into space and to the moon.  Happy traveling.
