Seafood, Mexican food, barbecue, and home cooking all in Matagorda County! Located just a little over an hour drive out of Houston, one can enjoy the beautiful sunsets of the Gulf of Mexico from the Jetty Park Pier in Matagorda, watch the shore birds, shop the antique shops, and enjoy some mighty fine dining.

The Outrigger Restaurant in Palacios, Texas offers some of Texas finest seafood dining. No wonder, it is located in “the shrimp capital of Texas – Palacios.” This is “real Texas eating” – chicken fried steak and gravy, rib eye and New York Strip steaks, barbeque, shrimp prepared all different ways (all delicious), oyster, fish, pasta and various seafood, the usual burgers, sandwiches, salads, etc. This is one more great place to dine.

In Bay City there is the Victoria’s Mexican Food that is very special! I eat Mexican food on a weekly basis and I can promise you this is an “Editor’s Choice.” A top choice here is the Fajitas Combination beef, chicken, and shrimp! You will never go wrong with any item on the menu! This is one more fine Mexican food place! Location: 2416 Ave. F, Bay City, Texas
A & A Bar-B-Que

Another excellent dining place in Bay City is the A & A Bar-B-Que place located at 3408 7th Street. In addition to all the fine barbecue there is fried catfish, fried shrimp, stuffed baked potatoes, sandwiches, etc. If you enjoy tender BBQ you will love this place. Truly, here you won’t pay too much, but you may eat too much! (Allen and Arlene Korenek are the owners of A & A... Allen to the right).

Now, here is a place that needs no address other than Blessing, Texas. Dining in this Historic Landmark 1906 Hotel Blessing one will enjoy the finest in “home cooking.” Nothing fancy – just go down the line and dip out fine country food in the quantities you desire. Homemade rolls, pies, cobblers, etc. await you at the end of the food line!

There are many, many fine dining experiences awaiting you in Matagorda County, but these are just some of the “Editor’s Choice” or variety!
