Bartlesville, Oklahoma

Phillips Hotel

A Great B & B Value

John C. Jones
Travel/Food Writer

One of the best deals in weekend B & B luxury is the Hotel Phillips of Bartlesville, Oklahoma.  There is plenty to see and do in the area (see related article under photoandtravel.com).  This five star hotel offers a standard room with breakfast for two - $59.00, Standard  Suite with breakfast  for two - $69.00, Standard Concierge with breakfast for two -  $89.00, or a Concierge Suite with breakfast for two - $99.00

During the week the hotel serves the business world (Phillips) and the B & B crowd comes on the weekends to “take up the slack.”  This makes for one of America’s best B & B buys.

World War II had just ended and industry was growing and Bartlesville faced  a serious housing shortage.  The apartment hotel was designed to meet the need of married couples without children and single employees of the Phillips 66 oil business.  The hotel was built in 1950 and has been beautifully remodeled with 144 guest rooms and suites.  The hotel was complete with self-service push-button elevators, streamlined kitchens, and a roof sun deck.  There was a design in the wall where groceries and other deliveries could be made without entering the room.   Garbage could be collected from the hall in the same manner.  In 1980 the Phillips Apartment Hotel was converted into Hotel Phillips with 156 luxury rooms and suites.

Just 40 miles north of Tulsa on US Highway 75, Bartlesville easily assessable in a day’s drive, or less,  from surrounding states.  At the Hotel Phillips each room is equipped with high speed wireless Internet by data jacks, irons and ironing boards, coffee makers, and hair dryers.   The hotel is conveniently located in the downtown business area, and close to the concert hall and not far from shopping and dining.

Concierge rooms and suites are designer decorated and provided with refrigerators stocked with complimentary sodas, complimentary cocktails, hors d’oeuvres as well as turn-down-service, complimentary newspapers plush bath robes and other extras.  A Concierge is available to see after each guest’s needs.  See the related articles this month about things to see and do in the Bartlesville area (John’s Notes, etc).
