One of the wonderful sites of Lakeland, Florida is the 1.2 acres of formal garden which is located in the historic Lake Mirror Park.
The Hollis family made generous gifts to form the Hollis Trust so a formal neo-classical European designed garden could be established for the downtown area to enjoy.
This unique place of beauty and serenity is packed full of fascinating and beautiful plants and sculpture. Like most of our Florida public gardens, plant material and color change with the seasons. In addition to the plants, there are water features, sculpture and architecture that enhance the beauty of the garden. As one moves through theme rooms of plant life that include Florida natives, annual hybrids, perennials, as fruits, vegetables, and herbs the changing shadows, the various views of the same area from different perspectives, all make each moment “one to remember.” Neatly pruned hedges delineate these "living" rooms with carpets of almost perfect Bermuda grass.

Since the gardens are under constant change with each season, changes to match the color themes, and other annual themes, there is no way to describe the garden as it will look when you visit – except to say, “I promise you will not be disappointed in your time spent to get here, or during your visit.” I think the recently taken photography will best describe
what you will be seeing among the 10,000 various varieties of plants, flowers (picture of one in
garden) to the right is the wedding gazzebo, and trees, and why this is favorite place for weddings.
