We are talking about one of my favorite places in all of America to visit at least once a year, and one of the very special bed and breakfast places there in St. Augustine, Florida. The Inn on Charlotte , is conveniently located in the heart of all that is “happening” in this unique city. Location : 52 Charlotte Street, St. Augustine, Florida.
The Castillo de San Marco (the historic fort), the Bridge of Lions, romantic horse-drawn carriage tours, evening haunted ghost tours, the quaint shops of St. George Street with their southern charm, and many of St. Augustine's special events and attractions are all just a few steps away. St. Augustine is situated on Northeastern Florida's Atlantic Coast, one can enjoy an afternoon on the water: sailing, deep sea fishing, or one of the relaxing scenic bay cruises. If you'd like to spend beach time, you are just 3 miles from Anastasia State Park which boasts 7 miles of the Sunshine State's finest beaches.
The Inn was built in 1918 and restored in 2003. “Attention to detail inside and out, during its 2003 restoration, and the use of quality antiques and grand reproductions, have captured the feeling of luxury in our bed and breakfast that denotes an era of prosperity. We think Levi Nelson would have approved of the whirlpool tubs in every room, cable TV, wireless internet access, and the many other modern B&B amenities.”
While parking can be a problem in the town’s historic village, it is not when staying at the Inn on Charlotte. This Inn is unique in that there are complimentary beverages which includes wine. Wine and sweet treats await you in the room each evening. With seven well appointed and lovely guest rooms with Jacuzzi in every room, television, and luxury king or queen beds, you are prepared for “a stay to remember.” A beautiful brick home was constructed at 52 Charlotte Street in 1918 for a local attorney, Levi Nelson. It was built at a time when America was riding the wave of an economic high. The Great War (WWI) had been won. Modern wonders, born of the Industrial Revolution, were creating a more leisurely, carefree lifestyle in Florida. It was a lifestyle that would soon become known as the "roaring twenties." The spirit of those good times comes to life as soon as you walk into the Inn on Charlotte.
With conveniently located parking lots for the guest, you can leave your car there for most of your meandering. You are only about ten minutes away from most all major dining, and “things to see and do.” With the safety of tourist being at an unbelievable level, one can feel free to walk about the area without fear.
This is another place that receives the honored position of, Editor’s Choice. It is not only the mouth-watering breakfast that will make this a “place to come back to,” nor only the friendly hostess, nor the convenient location, nor the private parking, the wine that is complimentary each day, the relaxing whirlpool bath, but rather the “total package.” The Inn on Charlotte is just an awesome place to be! The Inn has the honor of being listed among the Inns of Elegance in this fabulous town! Happy Traveling
