November is Great Texas Time
Of course, Texas “delivers the goods” 24/7/365 days a year! However, one of the passports to travel pleasure in the Lone Star State is the month of November. November, if you are a high school football fan promises to satisfy your adrenaline needs as the schools advance towards who is going to be in district to state playoffs.
There is something for every member of the family – Hunting season draws men out of their summer patterns into filling the house with the aroma of Hoppe’s gun cleaning fluid (for the unique history of this great product - which to the society of hunters is one of the sweetest smells ever invented by mankind. The very aroma of it makes even “normal men” sit in chairs cleaning their arsenal with fixed eyes staring into space envisioning a Texas twelve point buck in their crosshairs. Two of Texas mega stores for sportsmen start preparing for the November panic shopping Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s , and of course, our local Wal-mart . The climate is still mild enough for sensational fishing for crappie and bass. The above stores are also great suppliers for your fishing needs. Saltwater fishing is at its best during fall. Most anglers will be keying on red drum, or redfish as they are known in Texas. As the weather cools, redfish begin schooling up in the bays, preparing to migrate into the beachfront waters of the Gulf of Mexico for their annual spawn……. Fresh Water Of course, all of the angling action won’t be on the coast. Lakes across Texas will also be seeing increased activity as the weather and water cools. All of Texas’ top bass lakes will be giving up good numbers of large fish as bass begin to move shallower during the fall. Some of the very best lakes to visit during fall are Lake Fork, Falcon Lake, and Choke Canyon Reservoir. In short, if you like fishing – freshwater or salt – you should make time to visit Texas in the fall. The Lone Star State offers world-class fishing year around, but fall is when it is truly at its best.” For those of us that fly fish, we look forward to fishing some of the tail waters like those of Possum Kingdom Lake. With the irresistible picturesque and pleasant Texas fall weather it is perfect “family time.” With all the family activities Texas has to offer, colorful fall makes it even more inviting.
