This Month' Recipe is actually an
entire place of fine Texas dining.
Gloria's
Arlington, Texas
"Today, interstate highways 30 and 20 deliver consumer and commercial traffic to Arlington. The City of Arlington has evolved into a regional destination where, by 2011 (and the addition of The Dallas Cowboys' new stadium) 8 million people from all over the Southwest will come to play, shop, dine, and of course stay every year. It is no accident that Arlington Highlands looks out over Interstate-20 because that axis between Dallas and Fort Worth had been designated and zoned in the original master plan as a regional retail, business, commercial, and medical corridor. Today, it attracts the region's shoppers, because Arlington Highlands has taken the city's heritage to the next stage of convenience by providing its visitors ease access to a single
, extraordinary location to shop, dine, play, stay and, now,
work." Highlands Mall is an open
air mall.

"Of all of the Latin dining experiences in Dallas, Gloria's is unique for our attention to authenticity. Our food reflects not only our "Tex-Mex" locale, but also invokes the rich and rustic flavors of El Salvador. Savor the best of Gloria's delectable personal recipes, everyone perfected with the at most care and respect for tradition. We take great pride in each of our restaurants, and we always strive to make sure that no matter which Gloria's restaurants you dine in, you experience attentive service and simply fresh and delicious food. Siempre!"
I had been shopping at the new Orvis store, admiring the many outstanding "fine shopping experiences" that seemingly are endless, when I ask "If you had a special food choice today where would you go?" and the reply was without hesitation by several of Orvis staff, "Gloria's at the end of this block." I am so glad I asked. If you have been reading photoandtravel.com the past four years you realize I eat a lot of Mexican food, and am quiet a connoisseur of this cuisine. One bite into the Mesquite Grilled Pork Tenderloin Fajitas and I knew I had found another "special place" that was worth of Editor's Choice!
" Gloria's has a lengthy and very inexpensive lunch menu, but we generally choose from the dinner menu because it includes terrific sides such as the plantains, fried yucca and gallo pinto. The signature dessert is the rich, thick chocolate flan. Gloria's dishes are prepared without lard or MSG, a big plus." Dallas Observer
