I love Dollywood !!!
Not only because USA Today named the Smoky Mountains Winterfest one of the “10 Great Places to have a bright Christmas” in 2003, but because Sevierville is just a great “fun place”to be no matter what time of the year it happens to be – I put it on my special places to visit 2004 – 2005 list!
The Winterfest is just one of the many things happening through the year in the Sevierville area. This event takes place November 2nd – February 28, 2005, and is sponsored by Sevierville, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg.
There are fireworks, millions of twinkling Christmas lights, theaters, and great performances. Mentioning performances –November offers the Come Celebrate Christmas at the Governor’s Palace that has a cast of 50 people, water show, and China Acrobats. Dollywood turns into Christmas with excitement and wonderment, making it an “enchanted village never to be forgotten.”
Of course, Sevierville, Tennessee is a shopper’s delight with over 100 major, name brand outlet stores. Just in time for Christmas!

Rainforest Adventures is truly a “top-of-the-line educational and fun place” to take the children. Having done over 30 trips into the interior of the Amazon Jungle, I can tell you this may be as close to the “real thing” as you will ever experience. One will easily see more rainforest animals here than I did in the many trips into the Amazon. The reason? The jungle hides much of the animal life, but here it is all alive and right before your eyes! www.rfadventures.com
Some of the things to do is a visit to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, of course! Then there is the Tennessee Museum of Aviation (www.tnairmuseum.com), Forbidden Caverns, Five Oaks Riding Stables (www.fiveoaksstables.com), Floyd Garrett’s Muscle Car Museum (www.musclecarmuseum.com), NASCAR SpeedPark (www.nascarspeedpark.com), Senic Helicopter Tours (www.senichelicopters.com), Seviervillel County Heritage Museum, petting zoos (www.deerfarmzoo.com), and no trip into the area is complete without a meal at the famous Apple Barn and Cider Mill. www.applebarnchidermill.com
There is an abundance of fine dining places in the area, dinner theaters, and attractions to fill your “week at Sevierville, Tennessee.”
