The Northstar legacy of building quality truck campers goes back fifty years, with their models including both solid wall and folding (pop-up) units and the number of floor plans offered totaling nearly a dozen.  They feature truck campers for small trucks, full size short bed trucks and full size long bed pickup trucks.  The truck owner who demands the utility and functionality of a truck but who also wants the comfort and livability of an RV will find a Northstar  model that will fit his/her needs.

Folding truck campers offer special advantages, including a low profile and a low drag coefficient that means during travel there is no slab sided front above the truck cab that needs to be pushed through the air.  Clearance is not a problem, for when folded for travel the Model TS 1000 (for example) has a closed boy height of only 5’ 6” .  However, when it’s time to set up camp the roof pops-up to create an interior height of six feet, seven inches.  That’s Amazing!  Furthermore, even though this is a folding truck camper its level of livability has not compromised.  Quite the opposite, its livability is huge for it comes with all of the features and comforts found in any solid wall truck camper. The dry weights of the Northstar Folding Truck Campers range from 1,170 pounds up to just under 2,000 pounds. 

Standard equipment includes appointments such as a 16,000 BTU forced air furnace.  With this and the optional Arctic Pak, the camping enthusiast can be comfortably accommodated in frigid, extreme weather conditions. Even though the roof is a pop-up and fold down type structure, a 9,200  BTU roof air conditioner (with heat strip) can be enjoyed. This is made possible because of the Quad Torsion Lift System that Northstar uses permits the roof to be easily raised and lowered.  After the locking latches at each outside corner of the camper have been released, you simply go inside and employ the torsion lift system.   

Over the cab is a full size or queen size bed (with inner spring mattress), plus there are large storage compartments that run parallel along each side of the bed.  The galley is a full service venue that includes a 2-burner cook-top, a single sink and a 3-way 4.2 cubic foot refrigerator that seeks the availability of LP, DC or 110-volt AC.  A 20-pound propane tank is the fuel source for the cook-top, water heater and furnace.  All floor plans include an L-shape bench style dinette that quickly converts into a sleeping quarter for guests. 

Northstar Folding Truck Campers can be enjoyed with a full wet bath (depending upon the model) that can include a standup shower and a cassette toilet or a shower with a marine style toilet (waste holding tank) and a lavvy.  For ease of cleaning up, a hot/cold outside shower can also be enjoyed.

Northstar uses only the finest marine grade plywood in the construction of their truck campers.  The floor, walls and roof all feature hand cut and hand fitted block foam insulation.  The roof comes with a laminated aluminum exterior.  The walls also feature aluminum exteriors.  However, optional fiberglass exterior is also available.  A large steel lined exterior bay can be used to house a portable auxiliary generator or an additional LP bottle.  Wired for 30 amp shore power this folding truck camper is equally at home in either a primitive camp setting or an up scale RV campground.  For ease of on-loading and off-loading the unit from the bed of the truck, electric 4-corner Happijac Jacks     can be added.  All full size truck campers come equipped with a large thirty gallon fresh water tank.
