The awe-inspiring Possum Kingdom Lake is 19,000 acres of deep, clear water, with a diverse natural habitat for fishing; the surrounding cliffs provide shelter for smooth skiing, wake boarding and sailing, and make for spectacular underwater diving adventures, with almost 100 ft. of depth at the dam end. It is this magnificent, breathtaking, spectacular setting one finds the challenging and rustically beautiful Cliffs Golf Course. A friend of mine that plays Pebble Beach (lives in the area) recently told me on his second trip to play the Cliffs, "Different, but just as beautiful and challenging as Pebble Beach, and I like to play it more than Pebble Beach."
It is a world class resort... check out the photo gallery...

This picturesque course possibly has the most outstanding views of any golf course in Texas. Having played golf at many of the top courses in the USA, Hawaii, and abroad, it ranks in my top 15 in the world. Think of a course like this: Number. 8 is almost a horseshoe-shaped dogleg right, a par-5 at 555 yards. The second shot is a long carry over a deep ravine. While number 9 is the signature hole, and will remind one of Pebble Beach, with its -like view of the water and cliffs. It's a 195-yard par-3 with a 150-foot cliff drop to the lake far below. When you get to the 15th, you face a 162-yard downhill shot with wilderness and a cliff wall on the left and a lake on the right. The green is long and narrow and looks like a postage stamp from the perch above. Because you are hitting down to an enclosed hole in the rocky terrain, the wind can swirl, make the ball do all types of odd things, and you stand where hundreds of others have, reaching for another ball. Oh yes, take plenty of "old balls" for this course, and if play is slow, many take a lot of extra shots over the ravines and canyons "until they figure the distance out." Deer? They are every place one looks, as well a lots of other Texas wildlife.
One of the many ravines or canyons a
player must hit over to reach a green or
fairway.

With a 4 1/2 rating from Golf Digest, The Cliffs consistently maintains its status as one of the most spectacular courses in the state of Texas. The course is a direct reflection of the designers: touring pro Bruce Devlin and renowned architect Robert Von Hagge. Sculptured into the flow of the unique West Texas terrain, each hole at The Cliffs uses the natural landscape to create an unforgettable course. Some holes offer wide stretches of land but ravines, rock outcropping, cedar groves and a mixture of native grasses border the fairway on others. This Par-71 course is short at a little under 6800 yards, but don't let that fool you.
The Cliffs has been rated as one of the toughest courses in Texas, and some have rated it in the top five toughest.
What TB do you have that is 22 1/2 wide under arm to under arm, no longer than 31 from top of collar to bottom? Thanks.
